Dome Technology completed a massive installation and commissioning project for a Washington woodyard, allowing the customer to upgrade its current abilities and enjoy another generation of customized stacking.
The Packaging Corporation of America woodyard, located in Wallula, Washington, was an existing site, but the previous equipment had aged out, and PCA needed to bulk up their chip-storage capabilities. Their chosen model was two circular stacker reclaimers of different sizes so wood chips would be stacked in circular piles around the reclaimer bases.
Bruks Siwertell was a key project partner with PCA, designing the two stacker reclaimers and seven conveyors to the tune of 2,400 feet of conveyance. They then contracted with Dome Technology to install and commission the systems. In addition to installing the reclaimers, the plans required reclaimer center pedestals and their supportive concrete piers, below-ground foundation systems, the foundation for the sawdust metering tower, and two reclaim tunnels, along with the above-grade concrete ring walls that serve as the track for the stackers.
“We were able to leverage our current core competencies with foundations, design, and construction and execute a great project,” Dome Technology CEO Bradley Bateman said.
